New paper out of the Sperling Lab explores reticulate evolution in swallowtail butterflies

We are pleased to announce the publication of a paper on butterfly evolution in PLoS ONE. The paper, authored by Julian Dupuis, a recent PhD graduate in the Sperling Lab, and Felix Sperling, explores repeated reticulate evolution in North American swallowtail butterflies. This work serves to both characterize hybrid zones within the Papilio machaon species group, and assess the role that either introgression or hybrid speciation may have played in the formation of these hybrid zones. The paper is open access, and can be located here.
